Rains persist across the Dominican Republic, especially in the South

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that a pre-frontal trough north of the island, combined with moisture transported by east-southeast winds, will bring isolated showers of short duration to parts of the country on Friday morning. During the afternoon, cloud cover is expected to increase, leading to scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, and possible gusty winds in provinces such as El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Vega, San José de Ocoa, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, and Puerto Plata. The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy overnight. Due to the forecasted rainfall, weather alerts and warnings remain active in nine provinces because of potential flooding, overflowing rivers and streams, and landslides in vulnerable areas.
