Chinese community in Dominican Republic celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival

Santo Domingo.- The Chinese community in the Dominican Republic celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sunday in Chinatown, coinciding with the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event featured a vibrant program of music, the Lion Dance, children’s performances, and traditional cuisine, along with rituals such as the presentation of red envelopes and the distribution of over 400 gifts, highlighting goodwill and hospitality. Rosa Ng Báez, president of the Flor Para Todos Foundation, emphasized the 161 years of Chinese presence in the Dominican Republic and their contribution to national development. She noted the milestone of formal diplomatic ties in 2018 and China’s assistance during the pandemic.
