Japan education advisor suggests transforming math teaching in Dominican Republic

Santiago.- During his visit to the Dominican Republic, Norihiro Nishikata, education advisor for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), emphasized the need to improve the country’s mathematics curriculum and teaching materials to enhance educational quality. With over 30 years of experience in educational projects across Central America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, Nishikata noted that Dominican teachers are motivated and capable but require relevant resources and collaborative spaces to strengthen their practices. By adjusting curriculum content and textbooks to reflect students’ actual learning levels, academic performance—particularly in mathematics—can improve significantly,” Nishikata stated.
