Trump pledges aid as Hurricane Melissa devastates Jamaica and neighboring countries

 South Korea.- US President Donald Trump described Hurricane Melissa as unprecedented, saying he had “never” seen winds as strong, reaching 195 mph (314 km/h). Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to South Korea, Trump noted that Category 5 hurricanes rarely occur and assured that the United States is ready to provide humanitarian aid to Jamaica. Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness declared the country a “disaster zone” after Melissa made landfall in Westmoreland as a Category 3 storm, hours after peaking at Category 5. According to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS), over 530,000 households (77% of customers) remain without electricity.
