The Colonial City draws 8% of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced the completion of 11 reconstructed streets in Santo Domingo’s Colonial City, part of a major urban renewal project valued at more than RD$103 million. The initiative, carried out through the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (Ceiztur), aims to enhance accessibility, infrastructure, and the overall visitor experience in one of the country’s most iconic areas. Collado emphasized that approximately 8% of all tourists visiting the Dominican Republic include the Colonial City in their itineraries, reaffirming that no streets in the area will be closed during December to avoid disrupting tourism and local commerce.
