U.S. accuses former presidential advisor Fabio Jorge of international drug trafficking

Santo Domingo.- Former Executive Branch advisor Fabio Augusto Jorge-Puras, who has been accused of international drug trafficking by U.S. authorities, was dismissed by President Luis Abinader in May through Decree 273-25, which repealed his 2020 appointment. Jorge-Puras, who also serves as a financial executive for the Águilas Cibaeñas baseball team, faces charges alongside Gaspar Antonio Polanco-Virella, known as “El Grande.” According to indictment No. 25-CR-20430-MOORE/D ANGELO, filed on September 30, 2025, both men allegedly participated in an international cocaine trafficking network operating between 2019 and December 2020, involving routes through the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and other countries. The U.S. Department of Justice accuses them of conspiring to distribute and export cocaine to the United States. The case forms part of a broader effort targeting transnational drug trafficking organizations, and extradition requests [ ]
